SCHOOL POLICY ON VARIOUS ISSUES

A. ADMISSION
Admission is open throughout the session into all the Grades, except Grades 9 and 12, for eligible students. Very low grades shall not be entertained. Students with good grades shall be given preference for admission into Grade 10.
Transfer students shall be required to bring along a testimonial, as well as a record of previous academic reports from their previous schools.
The school offers programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce. Once admitted for a programme, students are expected to continue with it to the final examination in Grade 12. No student shall abandon a programme and shift to a different one without the knowledge and consent of the principal and the parents or guardians.
B. PROMOTION
Promotion to the next grade shall be based on promotion criteria decided upon by the Academic Board at the end of the promotion examination for the third term of each year. Students who are deemed not to have satisfied the promotion criteria shall be asked to repeat the class or proceed on promotion to the next class on trial depending on how woefully they perform.
C. PUNCTUALITY AND REGULARITY
Students are required to get to school by 8:00a.m. each school day, and be regular in their attendance. Lateness and absenteeism without a tangible reason shall not be tolerated.
D. FEES PAYMENT
All fees shall be fully settled by the second week into resumption of school for each term. Students owing fees shall be sent home for such fees.
E. ASSIGNMENT Assignments are very important in helping students to gain mastery of their subjects. Students are, therefore, expected to take their assignments very seriously. Failure or refusal to do assignments shall be sanctioned with punishment.
F. DRESS CODE
The school uniform shall be properly worn with a pair of simple black shoes and white socks. A suitable green sweater may be worn at the appropriate time to keep the cold away. Boots, multi-coloured footwear or dress items, neck chains, bangles and all other unnecessary adornment put on the head or elsewhere shall not be tolerated.
G. MAINTENANCE OF SCHOOL PROPERTY
Students are to take good care of all school property. Any student who willfully destroys or damages any school property shall be asked to pay three times the cost of the item in question.
H. ROUTINE CHECK ON STUDENTS PERFORMANCE
Parents or guardians are expected to check routinely on their children or wards to know exactly how they are faring with their studies and the school system in general. Checking on your ward at least twice a term can bring out positive results in the performance and conduct of that child.
I. AFTERNOON CLASSES
Afternoon classes are compulsory. Students who willfully absent themselves from these classes shall be duly punished.
J. MOBILE PHONES
No student shall use their mobile phone in class or during class hours. Failure to comply with this rule shall result in the confiscation of the mobile phone, in addition to punishment from the teacher.
K. EXAMINATION MALPRACTICES
No type of cheating or examination malpractice shall be tolerated. The punishment for cheating in examination ranges from loss of 20 marks to a score of zero for the subject concerned.
L. COLLECTION OF TERMINAL REPORTS
Parents or guardians are to make sure the report card is collected after each examination and scrutinized in order to counsel the student on weak subject areas.
M. PARENT-TEACHER MEETING
Parents and guardians are to endeavour to attend all Parent-Teacher Meetings scheduled at various intervals during the session, so as to be abreast of happenings in the school and policy updates of the school.
N. IMMORAL BEHAVIOUR
No act of immoral behaviour shall be tolerated in the school. Students should refrain from such acts in and out of school.
N.B. Students should read and be conversant with the school rules and regulations, and observe them to the letter.
